Prep Photos with Mom or Maid of Honor Getting Ready Photo Ideas, Part 4

Tips for Brides

I’m so excited to share Part 4 of my Getting Ready Photo Ideas! If you missed the first three Photo ideas I explored, you can check them out here! As you know, getting ready with your bridal party on the morning of your wedding day is a cherished tradition. It is also a perfect time to capture some unique and memorable moments!  As a wedding photographer, I love when brides come to me with fun and fresh photo ideas for their big day.  If you can’t think of any ideas for your must-have getting ready photos, don’t worry. I’ve got you covered!  Another one of my favorite photo ideas is Prep Photos with Mom or Maid of Honor!

Both the mother of the bride and the maid of honor hold a special place in the heart of the bride. Usually the relationship between a bride and her mom, or a bride and maid of honor, is one that runs deep. It’s a relationship that is highly treasured and set apart from others in your life. Capturing photos with only them helping you get ready for your big day is an amazing way to celebrate your bond with these remarkable women AND share a few unforgettable moments.

It is important to note that  you don’t have to choose between your mom and MOH!  This is your day! There is no right or wrong way to do this. If you want an intimate moment with just your mom, but also a separate moment with your MOH, let’s do it!  While your mom helps with your bustle, your maid of honor can be outside the door waiting for her turn to help put the finishing touches on your veil, or adding that extra layer of hairspray.

Alternatively, they can both share the moment with you as they work together to ensure every detail of your dress is just right. Rosemary did just that and shared a moment with both her mom and maid of honor.

My most important tip here is to remember that you don’t have to include all of your bridesmaids during this moment, especially if you have a very large wedding party. It’s impossible for 5+ bridesmaids to help with every single part of getting into your dress. Choose 1-3 ladies tops for the most intimate parts of prep and then do a bridesmaids reveal with the rest of the special ladies in your life.

I should warn you, however, that if you decide to incorporate this getting ready photo idea on your wedding day to come prepared with a few tissues. During these significant moments with the women in your life who mean the most to you, happy tears are likely to be shed.  You can give a beautiful Embroidered Wedding hanky  like this one found on Amazon to dry all those happy tears. You can also offer a special gift during this time like this cute photo frame.
