Marissa and Chandler are getting married this summer! Last year, our associate team photographer, Marianne, captured their beautiful Lavallette Beach engagement session. It has all the summer beach vibes we could want and it’s so sweet, knowing that Lavallette Beach is one of Marissa and Chandler’s special places. Complete with a sweet summer look for Marissa and a champagne toast, their beach engagement session was a joy to photograph!
THEIR LOVE STORY
These sweethearts met in high school as freshman. Over the summer before senior year, they began to talk more and as Marissa and Chandler told us, “the rest is history!”. They went to Buffalo Wild Wings for their first date and have been together ever since. During a summer trip to the beach, Chandler asked Marissa to be his girlfriend. As their relationship progressed, they spent more time at Lavallette Beach with their families and together. It became their special place – from dating to their engagement. They’ll be tying the knot at Clark’s Landing Yacht Club in Point Pleasant, one of our favorite nautical venues in New Jersey. We are SO excited to see this venue again in a couple of months because it’s in the process of going through a huge renovation and we heard we’re only the 2nd wedding to shoot there after the reno!

Tell us about the proposal!
“Chandler proposed in Lavallette. Throughout high school, college, and after, we would spend our summers at the Jersey Shore. His family has a house in Lavallette and my family has a house in Seaside Park. In July 2013, Chandler asked me to be his girlfriend on the beach in Lavallette.
In May 2022, Chandler planned on asking me to marry him on the beach in Lavallette, but the weather has other ideas! It was pretty much a monsoon outside, so he wasn’t able to do it on the beach. He ended up taking me to his aunt and uncle’s house in Lavallette, two doors from his house, where we spend a lot of time having family dinners in the summer. He proposed in front of the windows overlooking the ocean- the closest we could get to the beach on that day! After he asked, both of our families came out from hiding and surprised me!”
Tell us about the ring!
“It is a cushion cut with a yellow gold band and platinum prongs. I had sent Chandler ideas on instagram for awhile, but the ring was a complete surprise!”
Tell us one thing you love about each other.
Marissa: “I love that he makes me laugh and is so helpful and giving.”
Chandler: “I love that she is my biggest fan, ever since she was my cheerleader during football season in high school!”
What’s your wedding day vision and style!
“We are getting married at a church in Lavallette and the reception is at Clark’s Landing. Of course; we wanted to be down the shore. We plan on having a lot of beachy details at the wedding!”
