I couldn’t let the week go by without posting one of our recent engagement sessions! September and October are by far everyone’s favorite months for engagement sessions and I’ve been loving it! Due to our location, I usually only get to Skype with our couples when they book rather than meet in person so it’s a real treat when I get to meet them for their engagement photos. Sandra and Derek have known each other since middle school and I could tell right away because they were so comfortable with each other. Derek loves to tease Sandra and Sandra has the sweetest reactions! I’m so excited to capture their wedding day next month in the Poconos! It’ll be such a treat to head up to a completely new location to photograph these two. They are having an intimate wedding that reminds me of Jay and my wedding day, and I know it’s going to be special in every way. How they met:
“We met for the first time in middle school. We didn’t like each other much at first, but became good friends in high school marching band and bonded over our mutual love of video games. We started dating towards the end of high school. Sandra had a childhood fear of dogs, which very quickly turned into a love of dogs after meeting Derek’s dog, Bonnie. The early years of our relationship were centered around hanging out at Derek’s house and playing with Bonnie.”
What they remember about their first date;
“Dinner and a movie? We don’t actually remember – it’s been a while! Our dates early on were usually at our favorite pizza place.”
When they knew they had found the One:
“We’ve known for a long time. We are best friends and have wanted to spend our lives together for as long as we can remember.”
The proposal:
Derek: “I knew that Sandra preferred a private proposal. I decided to surprise her while I was supposed to be out of town. Lily, our dog, is a huge part of our lives, so I proposed to Sandra while she was taking Lily on a walk so that Lily could share in the moment as well.”
