Planning a wedding comes with plenty of questions. Idalia Photography is a full-service wedding photography studio based in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, serving couples throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and beyond. Established in 2012, the studio has grown into what it is today under owner and lead photographer Alex Peterson.
Her husband, Jay Peterson, leads post-processing for the studio’s weddings, and Alex leads a team of photographers who shoot weddings under the Idalia name — so every couple gets the same signature experience no matter who’s behind the camera. The studio intentionally limits the number of weddings it accepts each year to keep that experience deeply personal. Below are clear answers about the studio’s collections, team, planning process, wedding-day coverage, image delivery, and heirloom albums.

Idalia Photography is a full-service wedding photography studio based in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. We photograph weddings throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and beyond, with extensive experience at venues across the Jersey Shore, Central Jersey, North Jersey, and the greater tri-state area. Travel fees may apply depending on the location and logistics of your celebration.
Our style blends classic, romantic portraiture with authentic candid moments. We edit with true-to-life color, natural skin tones, balanced light, and a clean, timeless finish rather than a heavily filtered or trend-driven look. The result is a gallery that feels elevated and polished while still reflecting the people, emotion, and atmosphere of your wedding day.
Idalia Photography is a full studio team, not a single photographer working alone. Every wedding is supported by an experienced lead photographer, a dedicated second photographer, a photo assistant, and behind-the-scenes post-production and design specialists. That structure creates built-in backup coverage, consistent service, and a coordinated process from your first inquiry through your final gallery, album, and artwork.
Idalia Photography’s photo collections begin at $5,500 with an Idalia Team Lead Photographer, and at $6,500 with Alex as lead photographer. Every collection includes the studio’s full core experience. A unified photo-and-film collection begins at $15,000. Collections are subject to New Jersey sales tax, travel fees may apply, and pricing is guaranteed when the wedding is booked.
Every collection includes a custom wedding-day timeline, two photographers and one photo assistant, prep-to-cake coverage for up to 10 hours, edited images in Idalia’s signature style, sneak peeks within 24–48 hours, a virtual Reveal and Ordering appointment, custom album design, an artwork consultation, downloadable digital files in an online gallery, complimentary gallery access for guests, and printing rights.
Yes. Couples may choose Alex as their lead photographer or work with an Idalia Team Lead Photographer trained in the studio’s signature approach. Both options include the same core experience and dedicated three-person wedding-day team. Alex oversees timeline planning, the post-production team refines each image by hand, and the design team guides the album and artwork process.
Idalia includes two photographers and one assistant because each role serves a different purpose. Two photographers can document simultaneous preparations, multiple ceremony angles, and candid reactions without missing key moments. The assistant styles details, fluffs the dress, pins boutonnieres, manages the family shot list, and helps formal portraits run smoothly. The result is more complete coverage and a calmer experience.
Yes. Idalia offers a coordinated photo-and-film collection for couples who want one unified team and a cohesive visual story. The collection includes two photographers, two cinematographers, an heirloom album, a feature film, a social trailer, an online gallery, and a streaming app, all planned and executed together.
Reach out as soon as your wedding date and venue are confirmed, especially for a popular Saturday or peak-season date. Idalia Photography cannot hold a date without a signed contract and retainer, so early inquiry gives you the best chance of securing your preferred lead photographer and collection.
After you choose your collection, the studio sends a booking link with your quote and contract. Your date is officially reserved once the contract is signed and the $2,000 retainer is paid. After booking, you receive a comprehensive client guide, an online portal, planning resources, and access to Idalia’s preferred-vendor list.
Yes. Timeline guidance is part of every collection. Soon after booking, Idalia uses a questionnaire to create a preliminary wedding-day timeline and can coordinate with your planner as details evolve. About three months before the wedding, you complete a comprehensive final questionnaire.
No—Idalia plans both first-look and traditional aisle-reveal wedding days. A first look is especially helpful when the ceremony flows directly into cocktail hour, there is significant travel between locations, daylight will be limited after the ceremony, or you want to attend more of cocktail hour. The right choice depends on your priorities, ceremony time, sunset, venue layout, and portrait goals.
You do not need to know how to pose. Idalia’s photographers give natural direction during portraits so you know where to stand, what to do with your hands, and how to interact without feeling stiff. Throughout the rest of the day, the team balances guidance with a discreet documentary approach, stepping in when structure is helpful and stepping back during ceremonies, toasts, dances, and candid moments.
Idalia’s prep-to-cake coverage is designed to remove the guesswork around hourly coverage. The team typically begins with two hours of getting-ready coverage for the bride and one hour for the groom, then photographs the ceremony, portraits, reception details, entrances, dances, toasts, open dancing, and cake cutting. Coverage ends after cake cutting, three hours of reception coverage, or 10 total wedding-day hours.
Idalia recommends reserving about two hours total for couple portraits, wedding-party photographs, and family formals. That time can be consecutive or divided throughout the day. The exact plan depends on whether you have a first look, the number of locations, your family list, sunset time, and how much of cocktail hour you want to attend.
Rain changes the plan, not the standard of care. During timeline planning, Idalia considers natural light, indoor portrait locations, covered options, and schedule flexibility. On the wedding day, the team can adjust locations and timing, use beautiful interior spaces, and take advantage of clear-weather windows when they appear. The goal is to keep you comfortable while creating refined, story-driven images in the conditions you actually have.
Sneak peeks are delivered within 24–48 hours of the wedding. The full gallery is typically ready for the virtual Reveal within five to six weeks. Final image counts vary with the timeline, wedding-party size, guest count, and dance-floor energy, but a full wedding-day gallery generally includes approximately 800–1,000 edited images.
Yes. Idalia delivers edited images in the studio’s signature clean, timeless, and natural style. The post-production team refines the selected images for consistent color, natural skin tones, balanced light, and a cohesive story. Unedited or unfinished files are not part of the final gallery.
Yes. Every wedding collection includes downloadable digital files in an online gallery and printing rights, so you may make your own prints. Idalia also offers professional album and wall-art production through trusted labs for couples who want carefully calibrated color, archival materials, custom framing, and expert design guidance.
The Reveal is a guided online appointment where you see your completed wedding story for the first time as a curated album slideshow. A design specialist then walks you through the album pre-design, image selections, page customizations, and wall-art options. You receive access to your digital gallery the same day, while the design team helps turn your favorite images into tangible heirlooms.
Yes. Every Idalia wedding collection includes a custom album, with size and included pages based on the collection selected. Albums can be upgraded during the Reveal and Ordering appointment with additional pages, cover materials, engraving, specialty options, or duplicate parent albums. Couples typically have their finished wedding album in hand within two to three months of the wedding.
Idalia stands behind the couple portraits it creates. If those portraits miss the mark, contact the studio within three days of viewing them to arrange one weekday reshoot, including professional in-studio hair and makeup. The guarantee applies when the couple completes the timeline questionnaire, reserves at least 30 minutes for portraits on the wedding day, and follows the team’s posing, prompts, and direction.
Yes. Idalia Photography carries liability insurance and can provide a Certificate of Insurance to the wedding venue before the celebration. The studio also shares a preferred-vendor list with booked couples, making it easier to find trusted professionals for the rest of the wedding team.
Yes — many Idalia brides book a boudoir session before the wedding, often as a gift for their partner. Learn more about the bridal boudoir experience.
