Last summer I had the pleasure of photographing this lakeside NJ wedding inspiration shoot at Lake Valhalla Club in Montville, NJ. The inspiration for this shoot was the one year anniversary of our models,Kaitlyn and Dave. These two newlyweds had wanted a sunny day for their wedding day at Lake Valhalla but since it rained, they hadn’t gotten the portraits they dreamt of on the day of their wedding. So one year later, I met up with them at the very spot where they had tied the knot for an anniversary session and we created the images they had wanted with the lake as a backdrop and the beautiful mountains in the distance. After their anniversary session, they stepped in as models for this styled shoot designed by our good friend Jeanne from Bogath Events. Today we have the honor of seeing it published on the blog over at Every Last Detail so I thought it would be the perfect day to share these images with you!
Jeanne used beautiful Lake Valhalla as well as an old vintage sewing machine as the inspiration for the shoot. The color palette included bright berry pink, loads of greenery, and copper accents. My favorite part of the shoot was the cake display table that included beautiful florals overflowing from the sewing machine table drawers as well as a three tier cake complete with copper stripes and pretty floral accents. It even included eucalyptus (my new favorite!!), copper candle sticks, and pretty vintage glass. I don’t know how Jeanne comes up with her creative designs but she always manages to knock her styled shoots and wedding designs out of the park!
Other favorite elements from this shoot were the hand-lettered invitation, a custom copper seal, an oh so pretty lakeside dinner table full of pretty blooms, wooden signage, and copper accents… and… wait for it… a boat ride on the lake for the newlyweds. I love how Jeanne decorated the rowboat at Lake Valhalla. It was the perfect way to add a romantic vibe to the shoot and the soft evening light and last glimmers of the sun’s rays had perfect timing that day.
