Engagements

I can’t believe October is over.  It flew by faster than I could have imagined!  It was our busiest month yet and Jay and I are so thankful for all of the wonderful people we’ve been working with.  We had four engagement sessions this month and I loved spending time with each one of the happy couples.  I love all the excitement and wedding planning that is going on for them all and I’m so happy that they all had fabulous fall weather for their sessions.  Here are some of our favorite shots of Megan and Mike.  Jay and I met up with them up in Hoboken a couple of weeks ago.  We started out at Pier A Park and made our way to the Lackawanna Railroad Terminal, one of my favorite buildings in NJ.  At the end of the session we had just enough light to get some pictures of them in front of Texas Arizona, a popular hangout for fans of Penn State, Megan and Mike’s alma mater and the place that brought them together.  Megan and Mike, Jay and I loved hanging out with you and we are so excited to be a part of this exciting time in your lives!  Enjoy your blog post!

How they met

Megan:  We met at the GMAN a bar at Penn State my senior year.  It was Blue and White weekend and Mike was back visiting for the game, he had graduated the previous year.  We were both dancing to shout and caught eachothers eye during the part in the song where they sing “a little bit lower now…”  We were both the lowest on the dance floor…dance at first sight.

Mike:  I met Megan about a year after I graduated Penn State at Penn State.  I was back at school for the Blue White Football game and after the game I went to a bar known as the G-Man.  Megan was at the same bar with a friend who I had met before through another friend.  Figuring that was enough of a connection I went over and talked to them and before I knew it we were dancing (to “Shout”) and having a great time together.

The first date

Megan:  I remember him telling me he had booked 3 reservations; Mexican, Italian, and Japanese.  He told me to choose.  I chose Dos Caminos, to this day one of our favorite places.

Mike: I remember us both being a bit timid and nervous for the first hour but really warming up to each other after that.  I also remember Megan ordering a lot of food and not eating any of it.

When they knew

Megan:  I think the moment I knew he was the one during the time I was studying for the bar exam.  He was so unbelievably supportive of me, pushing me to do my best.  When I found out that I had passed the look on his face, how proud he was of me, I knew that that’s the kind of person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.  It’s hard to pick just one moment!

Mike: From the beginning I thought she could be the one.  We had so much fun together and I always wanted to be with her.  She’s a beautiful person and she laughs at all my jokes (even the bad ones).

What they love about each other

Megan:  I love how much we believe in one another and how much we laugh on a daily basis.

Mike: I love how much Megan loves and cares about the people in her life.  She in incredibly supportive and would do anything for her loved ones.  Also, she is intelligent and makes me laugh in ways only she can.

The proposal

Megan:  Mike told me that he had a work event at the Central Park Boathouse.  This is a pretty formal place so I was dressed up.  It was a beautiful day and we headed into the City from Hoboken.  We walked through central park and headed toward the boat house.  In order to get there you have to pass through the Bethesda Fountain…which has ALWAYS been my most favorite place in NYC (if not the world).  We began to walk down the steps and a choir was singing love songs with an acoustic guitar.  As we stepped out toward the fountain he stopped me and dropped to one knee.  I was shocked!!  To my further surprise he had a photographer capture the entire moment.  After that we had brunch at the Boat House and then decided to have a glass of champagne at a local bar in Hoboken.  As I walked in I was in for another surprise…he had invited all of our closest friends in to celebrate.  He knocked the proposal out of the park!

What they’re looking forward to on their wedding day (besides getting married!)

Megan:  I’m most looking forward to the first look…seeing each other for the first time that day.

Mike: I look forward to us getting introduced at our wedding and celebrating with our family and friends.  Oh and of course “Shout” with Megan.
