The Couple
Kelly and Mike met when they were in high school but it wasn’t until they were back from college on a Thanksgiving weekend that they hit it off. We had the pleasure of meeting them both at Kelly’s brother’s wedding this past spring and we were pleasantly surprised when Kelly emailed me just a few months after her brother’s wedding to share that she and Mike were planning a wedding for this year, too! Two weddings in one year for Kelly’s family!! These two just couldn’t wait to tie the knot so they ended up planning their wedding in record time and made it happen this past Friday on a snowy winter day.
The Wedding Day
When I saw the forecast and saw it was going to be 27 (!!) degrees, I crossed my fingers that Kelly and Mike would still want to take outdoor photos. It was so cold, I wouldn’t have blamed them for wanting to stay indoors but when Kelly said she wanted to do the first look and portraits outside, we were thrilled! It was cold, but it wasn’t windy so it was bearable and Kelly and Mike were so excited about the day, the cold didn’t phase them one bit. They had the biggest smiles on their faces all day long. We seriously have the best couples! We’re so thankful our couples place such a high value on photography because it makes our jobs so absolutely wonderful. They say good things happen to good people, and these two were rewarded with the most beautiful and light snow right smack in the middle of their bride and groom portraits. We felt so lucky – it could have snowed much earlier or much later but it snowed at the perfect time. We got so lucky! We also really lucked out with their amazing bridal party, too. They were such troopers and were so fun to work with!!
Kelly and Mike’s ceremony took place in New Brunswick at St. Peter the Apostle Church. The church was recently re-done and the pink tones in the frescoes complemented the wedding color scheme perfectly because there was tons of rose gold at this wedding. Kelly absolutely loves rose gold (hence her engagement ring!) and it served as inspiration for all of the wedding decor. From the bridesmaids’ mismatched rose gold dresses to the shiny rose gold tablecloths, it was the perfect color to offset the pretty winter greens and pinecones that were sprinkled throughout the day.
Kelly and Mike, THANK you for braving the cold and the snow! We’re so thankful that you were such troopers so that we could get plenty of images for you to remember your day by (I cannot WAIT to see these in your album!). We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect couple to end our 2017 wedding season with! Enjoy Punta Cana next week and Merry Christmas!
