Our Little Lisbon Stowaway Personal

Personal

I have to say, it’s so surreal to be writing this post! We’ve been married for over six years and in that time, we’ve gone through so many different phases from not feeling ready to have a baby to wondering if we waited too long to have our first child! We’ve been through it all but one thing is certain: we are beyond thrilled to be preparing to welcome Baby Peterson into our little family.

This was such a hard secret to keep! Actually, it was so hard that we have been sharing the news with our families and some of our closest friends little by little as the first trimester has progressed. This week we hit the 14 week milestone so we decided on today as the day that we share the news with the world. We couldn’t be more excited to share all about it with you!

But first, a little sneak peek at our six year anniversary session with Brian of French Grey Photography. Jay and I do anniversary sessions on even years and this time, our very special little peanut crashed the party and we are so thrilled about it, we asked Brian to take a quick snap of us with the little souvenir we bought for her of her first trip abroad! He took this with our little point-and-shoot camera but we love it!

I can’t even believe that’s us. It melts my heart to see Jay holding our baby’s first travel souvenir and when I look at my bump, I’m just so amazed how my body has gone through such a big change over the last few weeks. We’re so overjoyed that to celebrate, I thought it would be fun to share some FAQ’s about my pregnancy so far. Here they are!

When are you due?

We are expecting our little one on or around February 10th, 2019. It’s hard to believe but am already 14 weeks pregnant! We’re so thankful for the timing of this pregnancy because our due date falls an entire 8 weeks after our last 2018 wedding and over 8 weeks before our first 2019 wedding. We couldn’t have planned it any better (Well, there was some planning involved as we got pregnant in our second round of IUI). We are so looking forward to a quiet winter of nesting and binge-watching accompanied by quiet dinners while we wait for baby.

How are you feeling?

Don’t hate me but I’m feeling amazing!! I haven’t had any morning sickness, nausea, or vomiting. To think I’ve shot 14 weddings since finding out about the pregnancy and not once during those weddings did I feel sick!

How is Jay feeling?

To say that Jay is excited would be an understatement. We were both cautiously optimistic at the beginning of the pregnancy but as the weeks have gone by, we’ve allowed ourselves to get more and more excited about the baby and at this point we are just absolutely thrilled that everything is going well and that our first trimester screening shows a perfectly healthy little baby with a strong heartbeat.

When did you find out about the gender?

We found out the gender just a couple of weeks ago through our Week 12 blood test. We had the doctor write the gender down for us and seal it in an envelope so that we could open it later once we were home. I don’t know why but I was convinced 100% that it was a boy and had somehow convinced Jay, too, so we were shocked when we opened the envelope and saw that we’re having a GIRL!

Who do you think your baby will look like?

Gosh, we can’t stop wondering about this! Every time we’re out and see a mixed race child, we can’t help but talk about what our little girl will look like. With Jay being Korean and me being Honduran, we definitely think our baby will look exotic but it’s a little tricky because even though I’m hispanic, I’m pretty light-skinned and have green eyes. So who knows what this baby will look like! I’m hoping she has her father’s thick hair and Jay just hopes she doesn’t look too much like him, ha!

How has the pregnancy impacted your business?

We have been planning to start a family for quite some time now so we made sure not to book any weddings around the time we were hoping to have our baby. We couldn’t imagine having to cancel on one of our sweet couples so we avoided that completely by declining all wedding inquiries that came in for winter weddings. This was so hard to do and it was a huge gamble but in the end, it worked out perfectly: we’re getting a winter baby during our 16 week break from shooting weddings! It’s going to be a one-of-a-kind off-season!

Well, friends, that’s it for now! If you made it this far – thank you for reading this!! And thank you for following along, too – we cannot wait to continue sharing this journey with you!
