Jay and I are always excited when we receive an email from a newly engaged couple. There are countless photographers in New Jersey, and we never take for granted when we are chosen to document a couple’s wedding day. And when that email comes from the son and now daughter-in-law of a friend? It’s all the more special. Last Saturday, we were beyond thrilled to see Lauren and Chad become husband and wife, truly honored to be chosen to capture their day, and incredibly humbled to be entrusted with documenting their memories. These two have such a wonderful love story! They originally met on Birthright Israel and re-connected years later when Lauren spotted Chad while jogging in NYC. As they say, timing is everything. For these two, the timing of Lauren’s jog that day was just perfect, as was their wedding day on Saturday.
The Wedding Day
When you plan a winter wedding, you can’t help but worry a bit about the weather, but the sun was shining brightly as we approached the beautiful Grand Cascades Lodge in the Kittatinny Mountains. When we arrived in Lauren’s suite where she was getting ready with all the special ladies in her life, I immediately noticed all of the special touches she had picked out for her day. The wedding band Lauren chose to be married in belonged to her great-grandmother. The wedding band she will wear was made by her sister, Melanie, and the bracelet she wore was borrowed from Chad’s mother. There were truly so many special touches! Not to mention the handmade chuppah poles that were used during the reception, made by Chad’s cousin’s husband, which looked beautiful with the two tallits that belonged to Lauren and Chad’s grandfathers. From the 230 guests who attended the wedding to the special items that accompanied on their wedding day, Lauren and Chad were surrounded by so much love and we are so happy for them to begin their lives together as husband and wife. Lauren and Chad, we hope you love re-living these memories as much as we loved documenting them. Congratulations and enjoy your honeymoon in Belize!
