Year in Review | Top 10 of 2015

Business

Happy New Year’s, everyone! I can hardly believe that it’s the last day of the year. Because 2015 was so good to us, I’m sorry to see the year come to a close so quickly. It feels like yesterday that I was sitting down to write our “Top 10 of 2014” post and here we are again, just like that! If you’ve been following our blog for a while, then you know about our New Year’s Eve tradition. For those of you who are new around here, Jay and I have a little tradition on New Year’s Eve when we name the best moments of the year and we create our personal Top 10 of the Year. A few years ago, I started doing the same for our business and I love having this record of all the best moments of the year. And so, without further ado, here are the highlights of 2015:

One

We love to start with our couples! We are so thankful to have the opportunity to work with such wonderful couples year after year, and this year was no exception. Our 2015 wedding season was amazing and we had the opportunity to work with and get to know so many sweet couples! Look at them all – they are beautiful both inside and out and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts for trusting us to capture their big day.

Our engagement sessions were so fun this year! We got to shoot in so many fun locations, and a lot of new ones, too! We shot at exciting places like Rockefeller Center, Central Park, South Street Seaport, and Long Island City. We returned to a few favorite spots: Skylands Manor, Princeton University, Allaire State Park, Clinton, Asbury Park, Red Bank, and Manasquan Reservoir. And we discovered a few gems in NJ, too – Cross Estate Gardens, Mindowaskin Park, Cheesequake State Park, and Laurita Winery. Phew! What a year! Just looking at these images gets us so pumped for our 2016 weddings!

And now for the newborns! How gorgeous are all of these babies? I just loved capturing them all during their first few days of life. Thank you to all the mommies and daddies who allowed me to document their sweet little babies!

In July, we launched our new website and blog! This was a huge step forward for us and we’re so happy to finally have a storefront that reflects our brand in the best way possible. We’re so glad we made these changes because over 28,000 unique visitors visited the website and blog this year (wowzers!!) and we want you all to be able to find things easily and enjoy the experience while you visit our online space.idalia-photography-new-website_0001

November brought Part II of our website launch when we revealed our newborn site. I love that I now have a space dedicated specifically for parents!launch-day-new-jersey-newborn-photographer

On Black Friday this year we announced the newest addition to the family – our sleek and modern open-air photo booth! It has its very own website, too. Learn more here: Idalia Photography Photo Booth.

I’ve been keeping this one a secret because I’m still finishing up some details but here goes: earlier this fall I transitioned to studio-only newborn sessions! I’m so excited for this change because it will allow me to offer a much better experience for our newborn clients. Not only is the studio fully equipped with my full collection of props, backdrops, and other essentials, but I have a new studio light that I am in love with. Stay tuned in January for a studio tour on the blog.  =)

We were so honored when our work was published in the Spring / Summer 2015 issue of The Knot New Jersey! It was definitely surreal to go to Barnes & Noble and pick up a magazine that contained one of our favorite ceremony images of 2014. Thank you to our couple, Meghan and Matt for making this feature possible!

We love when our couples get published! They work so hard on their wedding details so it’s always a good day when their hard work is recognized by some of the best wedding blogs out there. Congratulations to all of our couples whose wedding got published this year! A few of our favorite publications this year include Martha Stewart Weddings, Carats and Cake, Reverie Gallery, MODwedding, and Fab You Bliss. To explore our features click here.

Earlier this year we received another Wedding Wire Couples’ Choice Award and we have our couples to thank for taking the time to review our business! We are so thankful for the sweet words they have left us. I get butterflies in my stomach when I read these! To think that our couples take time away from their busy schedules to write such kind recaps of their experience with us is just so heart-warming. All we can say is THANK YOU.

And there you have it! As you can see, 2015 was an amazing year and we have you – our readers, clients, family, and friends – to thank for it. We’re so excited to see what 2016 brings and to show you what we have in store, too! Thank you for believing in us and for coming along with us. Enjoy this New Year’s Eve and we’ll see you in 2016!
