The Couple
Shalu and Dan went to the same high school and met thanks to mutual friends. Jay and I also met through mutual friends so I love when friends play matchmakers! When it came time for Dan to propose to Shalu, he popped the question during a weekend getaway at Skylands Manor, where they returned for their engagement session last summer. I remember how relaxed they were and how they just loved documenting their love at the very spot where Dan proposed. Talk about romantic =)
The Wedding Day
Shalu and Dan spent almost two years planning their wedding and were excited to combine their two cultures as well as have all their family under one roof. Their wedding day took place at the Valley Regency and started out with so much rain that there was flooding in the area, but these two weren’t going to let a little torrential downpour put a damper on their wedding day! They each got ready with their wedding party members and shared a first look indoors to avoid the rain. In the meantime, the weather started to improve faster than we imagined! By the time Shalu and Dan were ready for their second portrait session in their Indian attire, the sun was shining brightly and the grounds dried up right away. These two got so lucky and we were so happy for them that the weather took a turn for the better. Their portrait sessions were followed by two meaningful ceremonies among family and friends, one which was actually outdoors. My favorite part of the day was seeing how natural and seamless it was to incorporate two cultures into Shalu and Dan’s wedding day. Here is a peek into this beautiful wedding day!
