Kate and John found us thanks to another one of our couples, Kerry and Mike, who just got married this past August. Kate and Kerry have been friends since high school and were planning their weddings just seven weeks apart, but a couple of thousand miles away. I can only imagine how many wedding-related conversations they had over the last year, and we are so thankful that Kerry mentioned us in one of these many conversations between friends.
Kate and John met while they were sophomores at Villanova University. They started spending more and time together during their senior year and eventually started dating. They graduated, moved to different cities, then to the same city, and when John was ready to propose to Kate, he took her back to the very campus where it all started. He had a photographer document the proposal as it was happening and also coordinated with all of their family and friends so that they would be waiting to celebrate afterwards! I think it’s safe to say that it was a dream proposal, the perfect start to this love story.
Our couple planned a classic wedding, exactly like the weddings we love to capture. Kate and John even incorporated one of our very favorite color combinations: maroon and navy. They were married in a traditional Catholic ceremony followed by dreamy portraits on the stunning grounds of their venue, Pleasantdale Chateau. This was a new-to-us venue and we loved discovering all the variety of backdrops there are! But one of our favorites parts of the day was when the Villanova Wildcat made an appearance at the reception!! All the Villanova alumni went crazy over him and we got some epic shots for these two to remember Villanova by. You’re going to love this post – it’s a perfect combination of romance and fun!
